It is a fantastic setting in the summer of 2011. The German women's soccer team will play their first game in the Berlin Olympic Stadium in front of 74,000 enthusiastic spectators. This is what the soccer players had dreamed of: that their sport would arrive in the middle of society. And about the fact that they could bring their audience a new summer fairy tale. Then the disappointment: The hosts' team were eliminated in the quarter-finals against Japan. The new documentary by Sung-Hyung Cho (“Full Metal Village”) shows what you can't see on the pitch: the months of preparation, the training. And he lets players tell very different temperaments: from Lira Bajramaj, who was treated as Miss WM in the media, to the boyish newcomer Dszenifer Marozsán. This is how a group portrait emerges beyond the clichés: by young women who are passionate about football, but who are also involved in life as physiotherapists, students or clerks. And who can therefore also deal with defeats, unlucky injuries and disappointments. Yes, women play soccer. And they paint their nails. Welcome to the 21st century.
