CGiii Comment

It certainly is grim in Hungary!

If the filmmakers set out to make an anti-Hungarian Hungarian film...they succeeded! Indeed, this film is so anti everything, it's not difficult to see why it enraged quite a few folk.

From the off, this is [dangerous] fiction that flows into fantasy...Syrian refugees are chased and shot at by the Hungarian authorities. A young man dies and is immediately resurrected...with extraordinary powers - among other things, he can fly!

Throw into the equation...a corrput officials, dodgy doctors and a scrappy storyline that ceaselessly promotes Hungary's grimness...Jupiter's Moon becomes more of a challenge than most people could stomach...everyone is motivated and absorbed by money...it's exhausting to watch this level of money-grabbing for 2 hours!

There are peculiar little oddities scattered throughout...America is seen as the promised land, a five-star restaurant refuses to sell French Fries, an elderly barman comes out of the closet after 62 years declaring that homosexual love is more secure than its heterosexual equivalent...it's all just a little too bizarre to be taken seriously...and, this is a serious film...that creaks under the weight of so many 'unpleasant' and obvious agendas!

Technically, it's a proficient film...the flying sequences are pretty good, as is the cinematography. But...it's far too long, with too many oddities, being too damn preachy...and, hateful. It doesn't exactly paint a pretty picture of the European Union...it just shows how disparate the member states are!

It's safe to say: The Hungarian tourist board ain't gonna be liking this one!
