CGiii Comment

This film has one major problem...the writing!

There's too much of it, conversation after conversation, relentlessly...and, at no point is it believable...people do not talk like this! Perhaps the writer attended countless therapy sessions...there's so much soul-searching, admission and mea culpa...you'll feel as if you attended those sessions yourself! The Hallmark ending will probably appeal to the softer-hearted...and, for those who have finally finished with the therapy!

As for artistry, there is none...constant cuts to the 'talker' - nothing is shown, everything is told...exhaustingly.

Jonathan Bennett acts with his [demented] eyes...a wide-eyed and [at times] weird perfomance, replete with drama-student reaction shots. Anthony Rapp...plays a whiny, distinctly unlikable control freak...a couple as mismatched as are their acting talents.

Should straight male writers write gay male roles? A pertinent question in these politically correct days...where there's the call for trans*actors to play trans*roles, the demand for lesbian actors to play straight roles...ad nauseum.

If you can do the job at hand...then, who the hell cares!?! Think: Brokeback Mountain!

Unfortunately, Joshua Tunick was a little out of his depth on this one...definitely, well-intended...but, sadly, wholly unrealistic.

The(ir) Blurb...

This intimate drama tells the story of Daniel (Anthony Rapp) and Christopher (Jonathan Bennett) on the eve of their wedding. When a long-lost friend of Christopher's shows up and the day's stresses begin to spiral out of control, the couple must rely on their close friends and family to see them through. Co-starring Alyson Hannigan, DO YOU TAKE THIS MAN... is an insightful and realistic look into what it takes to make a relationship work in 2016.
