Talking to My Mother

Country: USA, Language: Chinese, 17 mins

  • Director: Leon Le
  • Writer: Leon Le
  • Producer: Ingrid Abrams; Christopher Birk

CGiii Comment

The problem with gay Chinese-American films is...they are usually about the same thing.

This - although beautifully filmed - is no exception.

Mother. Tradition. Marriage.

With the over-arching serenity and sentimentality...it's all a bit too Hallmark and melodramatic...to be taken seriously - despite its technical prowess.
