CGiii Comment

When you read the blurb, the filmmakers' approach to telling this story becomes abundantly clear. Aimed at a younger audience, the end result is somewhat patronising.

More skimming the surface than taking a deep dive into the facts and evidence. Motive is key...yet, the motive was barely addressed...perhaps, too grisly for a younger audience!?! There were some many dark avenues for this investigation to venture down...alas, no...dark avenues are not the places to take a younger audience! Instead, the final episode, incredulously, starts spout all kinds of compliments about the killer, a lovely chap, would do anything for you...even kill you if asked nicely!

There really is no point in making a programme about a well-documented case that reveals absolutely nothing new or surprising...it really is disrespectful of the victims. They deserved better, much better.

The(ir) Blurb...

In 2012, a mysterious series of murders strikes fear and dread in Berlin. The victims, seemingly chosen at random, are drugged with an unfamiliar substance - a trail that confronts investigators with a dilemma. As news of the gruesome murders hits the headlines across Germany and further cases emerge that may be linked to previous murders, the pressure mounts on the investigators to solve the case. The 3x40' series Crime Scene Berlin: Nightlife Killer, developed by Brothers Beetz, tells a true-crime case for a young audience based on a concrete story related to Berlin's nightlife.

In 2012, three young men were murdered while a fourth victim barely survived a similar attack. Who was drugging, robbing and killing men in gay clubs?
