Second Life (A)

Depressed misanthrope Elisabeth works for a concierge company in Paris, showing often-rude tourists to their rented apartments for the Olympic games — a stressful job that has her flitting around the city. The only respite she has is by disconnecting her hearing aid and gazing at Monet’s “Water Lilies.” Everything changes when she meets Elijah, a free-spirited young traveller. Apprehensive and borderline hostile at first, Elijah’s kind and patient nature eventually breaks down Elisabeth’s walls – who is in dire need of some joy and adventure.

An ode to friendship and an urban fairy tale, and an almost documentary portrait of a city buzzing with olympic tension.
