CGiii Comment

Scout Master Kevin! Hysterical.

You really need to see it...to appreciate that line. And, it comes in the first few minutes!

Then...what follows is an onslaught of unbridled irreverence to each and all...with one major exception...there is total reverence for Babs Streisand! Yes, she gave permission for her Papa Can You Hear Me to be played and sung. And, as some may know, when it comes to Yentl, the copyright police are all over it like a rash! Still...it always helps when step-son baby-Brolin is in the cast: Dearest, sweetest, voice-of-an-angel step-Mom can we use it, please, please, pur-lease?!?

There are surprises running through this highly-polished sequel, some will make you cring, some will loosen your jaw...and, the biggest surprise of all, it's emotional. Truly, it is! Tearfully so!

And then, it's cute...the lesbian couple are the cutest. But, what a joy it is to see Julian Dennison delivering like he did in the exceptional Hunt for the Wilderpeople.

But...this is Ryan Reynolds' film and baby. He certainly basks in and shares - rather generously - the limelight...with his co-stars. His labour-of-love is reaping rewards aplenty...and, if this sequel is anything to go by, Mr Reynolds has plenty more up his sleeve - when you develop and suit a character to this extent, the possibilities are endless...but, the writing has to remain top notch.

Indeed, those irritable snowflakes [who pervade our every day] will balk at some [possibly most] of the humour. Get over it! This is neither a film for the over-sensitve nor lovers of arthouse. This is pure entertainment...for a more mature audience who want a breath of immaturity blown over them.

Yes, it's puerile...deliciously and escape-ishly so!
