Jessica Chastain delivers a fine performance.
The production values are above par.
The direction is competent.
However, the story is a ridiculous hike through implausibility - the girl, a southern teenage bride, manages to sleep with every millionaire in America after having a lesbian affair with a prison guard who helps her escape...yes, it is utterly ridiculous.
A teenage orphan spends ten years traveling cross-country experiencing life, love and heartbreak. Based on E.L. Doctorow's story, "Jolene: A Life."
