The southern state of Morelos in times of revolution. Young Angustias, daughter of Anton Farrera (a generous bandit), suffers discrimination from her neighbors for living with Crescencia (the witch) and refusing to be a victim of harassment from men. After stabbing a charro who was trying to rape her, Angustias flees to the mountain and is enlisted in the Zapatista troops.
