CGiii Comment

An American/Netflix production about a very European institution...what could possibly go wrong?!?

Well...just about everything.

Will Ferrell in a toxic wig...playing Pierce Brosnan's son! That's stretching it a bit!

Will Ferrell, Will Ferrell...well, let's just say...everything that's wrong with this horrific production lies [squarely] at the feet of...Will Ferrell. He's not funny. He can't sing...his [sight] gags are older than him! And...did no-one notice? He's far too old for the part! That's what happens when the star/writer/producer are the same person...the supposed jokes become unrecognisable.

To make things even worse...there's Dan Stevens [playing a gay Russian] bedecked in wig toxicity too!

Let's not stop there...there are some illusive murderous elves!

Who wrote this garbage?!? Will Ferrell & Co did.

Iceland will be appalled. Eurovision should be appalled too...but, they obviously gave their consent [in exchange for what, we wonder?!?]...and, Benj Pasek & Justin Paul [writers of The Greatest Showman's Never Enough] have to be absolutely fuming! The only semi-decent song [Husavik] is a blatant rip-off. And...why would the incredible Sigur Rós allow their music to be used?!? For that matter...why would Abba!?!

Rachel McAdams is the only shining light...she pitches everything perfectly, despite the lousy script and the aged side-kick.

This was meant to premiere alongside the actual 2020 Eurovision contest...due to the Covid-pandemic, it never happened...sparing a multitude of Eurovision fans the distress of seeing their beloved contest being trashed. Sadly, we had to witness it!
