Welcome to the crazy, perilous, egotistical world that is haute couture...

It's a little difficult to write about a film when you 'knew' the person and had 'history' with one of the narrators!

Putting all personal [antiquated] issues aside...McQueen is a mighty fine film indeed. Capturing all of the highs and all of the lows of an industry that is as cut-throat as an assassin's convention.

Call him what you will...enfant terrible...maverick...Alexander McQueen was a craftsman, an artist...and, a visionary...who fell, from the heady heights of [huge] success, into a personal pool of despair. Nothing short of a tragedy. Could it have been avoided? We'll never know...some things will always [and should] remain unanswered.

Thankfully, this film goes nowhere near the tatty tabloid route, unearthing scurrilous scandals...instead, this is a fitting celebration...of a remarkable man with a remarkable talent...who got where he got to...by sheer determination, grit, personality and hard work.

It's a wonderful story that should have had a happy ending. Sadly, not...but, Alexander McQueen will not be forgotten, he made a permanent mark on the world and left behind a Brand and an enviable legacy...not only his clothes and shows...but, a blueprint - for the up-and-coming designers - for success in the crazy, perilous, egotistical world that is haute couture...

A fine portrait of a devilshly fine man!

Here's to you Lee...those nights in the King Edward IV [in Islington], happy days.
