CGiii Comment

So...the great minds working behind the scenes at the BBC [3] threw this onto their iPlayer without realising just how good it is! They obviously can't recognise a good thing - even - when it slaps them across the face!

The power of word-of-mouth has saved Killing Eve from obscurity.

Much praise has been directed towards Sandra Oh...and - to be fair - she is very good...but, c'mon, this is Jodie Comer's triumphant grandstand. Hard as nails and delicate, like a flower...sometimes. There is so much light and shade, the effect is almost stroboscopic.

What sets Killing Eve apart from all the rest [humdrum] cat-and-mouse [formulaic] dramas...is the writing! Laden with the darkest humour and some startling one-liners [usually delivered by the marvellously uppity and incomparable Fiona Shaw].It keeps you on your toes and on the edge of your seat!

One minute Eve is the cat...then, she's the mouse...the same goes for Villanelle...but, her 'mouse' has far more tricks up her murderous sleeves.

Both the cinematography and production design are - at times - visionary. As for the music/song choices...fittingly incongruous and knowledgeably inspired.

The last time a 'killer' was so goddamn likeable was Dexter...Villanelle is quite a few notches above the genial blood-splatter-analyst...she's darker, prettier, obsessive, unstable, much more fun...and, wholly without conscience [or, is she!?!].

Deliciously written. Deliciously produced. Deliciously performed...deliciously evil!

Season 2...well, let's just say there was very little room for improvement...and, it just got better!

Season 3...KENNY!!! WTF!!!
