CGiii Comment

It’s the early 90s, peak grunge era, and identical twins Tegan and Sara Quin are starting high school. Tegan is secretly in love with her best friend, while Sara is struggling to define herself on her own terms. Co-created by the musicians and director Clea DuVall, and employing a dual narrative device that deftly illustrates the two character’s contrasting perspectives, High School captures the pleasures and pains of growing up, finding your tribe, and figuring out your cultural and sexual identity. Featuring an entirely LGTBQIA+ creative team and a delicious soundtrack of early 90s alt bangers, including Hole, Violent Femmes and Smashing Pumpkins, it’s both a gloriously evocative cultural time capsule and quietly groundbreaking slice of queer representation.
