CGiii Comment

A fascinating study on the futility of life...in 60s rural Germany.

Where the elders are jaded and judgmental. Where rumours are spread by the peasants' piety and pettiness...

Everyone has a clearly defined role - no deviation, no deviants...those contrary to nature...are not welcome!

The cruelty is unrelenting and insufferable - each character is portrayed as an unsubtle stereotype...the village whore is agonising to watch.

Fleischmann's utter derision of these simple folk is so extreme...the parody becomes pastiche...which only aids and abets the complete contempt that you will experience whilst watching this zoo.

A life lead here would be akin to a lengthy stint in Guantamano after being kicked out of Salem...

Genuinely, this is terrifying genius.

And so, so sinister.
