A sympathetic young woman going through real tragedy, we relate to her struggle on an intrinsic human level and root for her survival implicitly, but she is still rife with enough flaws and contradictions to make her human and interesting. The parental relationships really stand as the backbone conflicts of the script, too. The writers also include some truly poetic lines in the dialogue that help to harness the full weight of this story about loss, acceptance, and healing."
