Josefa’s Return

After more than 40 years, Josefa returns to her parents’ farm in the village she’d once stormed out of. Back then, she was still known as Josef but has since moved to the city and started a new life as a woman. A lot has changed since then, and she must confront her memories, especially concerning Petra, to whom she was once married as well as her soul mate and best friend Blume. Unexpressed emotions and misunderstandings flare up. Josefa’s Return is a powerful family tragedy about misconceptions, true identities and the ghosts of time passed.

Vor über 40 Jahren hat Josefa (Adele Neuhauser), als sie noch Josef (Riccardo Campione) hieß, im Streit ihr Heimatdorf verlassen. Heute kehrt Josefa dorthin zurück. Vieles ist geschehen in dieser Zeit. Vieles hat sich verändert. Josefa lebt ihr Leben. Als Frau. Auf dem Hof der verstorbenen Eltern wird sie nicht nur mit voller Wucht mit ihren verschollenen Erinnerungen konfrontiert, nein, da ist auch Petra (Eva Mattes), die einmal ihre Ehefrau war. Vieles, das damals nicht gesagt wurde, verlangt nun Gehör. Kränkungen und Missverständnisse brechen auf wie nie verheilte Narben. Da ist Blume (Ulrich Noethen), Josefas bester Freund von damals. Ein sanfter Wegbegleiter, der von Josefa Antworten auf Fragen erhofft, die er damals nicht zu stellen wagte. Aber nicht nur für Josefa ist es eine Aufarbeitung ihrer Vergangenheit, auch Petra trägt Geheimnisse mit sich. Rückhalt findet Josefa in ihrer guten Freundin Antonia (Hayal Kaya).
