Se-oh, who has spent his life constantly having to explain his origins and nationality because of his appearance, one day seeks a travel companion—offering a luxury suitcase and the mysterious item inside as a reward. While most respond with suspicion, Sora approaches him. Searching for traces of her same-sex partner, Sora is just as much in need of a companion as Se-oh. As in all of director Shin Suwon’s films, the journey of characters trapped by prejudice takes center stage; they strive to find affirmation of their existence through an unfamiliar voyage, placing societal gaze and personal recovery side by side. Han Hyun-min, who began his career as a model, and Lee Zoo-young deliver a unique chemistry that portrays the friendship and growth of these ‘mutants.’ Their movements, unbound to one place and following their own rhythms, become the film’s message in themselves. In addition, actors such as Moon Geun-young and Lee Jung-eun—who have worked with the director in previous films—appear in well-suited roles, adding a sense of welcome reassurance. (CHA Hanbi)
