No music and stark cruelty.

A family drives a little boy insane.

It may have been torture for the kid but it certainly is agonising for the viewer.

He lops from one catastrophe to the other - and, if you don't lose him along the way then you certainly need to take a long hard look at yourself.

This is cheerless in every sense of the word.

A turgid trek without any redemption and, perhaps, if truth be told...a masterwork depite its difficulties.
