CGiii Comment

Pretending to be an anthropological experiment, An American Family became the first example of tabloid TV - uncomfortable reality produced comfortable ratings.

Solid and scathing...and beautifully played by most.

The gay son is ripe for a slap - over-played and obnoxious...the underground theatre scene with the drag queens completely failed.

The directors should have gone to a few gay bars.

There are some clever touches - it is beautifully realised but...it should have delivered a knockout punch - instead, it gives a few vicious slaps that will leave no bruises.
