'You have failed to establish that a bona fide marital relationship can exist between two faggots.'

- a denial letter from the Immigration and Naturalization Service, received by Richard Adams & Tony Sullivan in 1975.

In the recent, tiresome glut of same-sex marriage films - the same old story being told over and over again...this one stands head and shoulders above them all.

Why? Because it has history, 40 years. Because it reveals some of the unsung heroes of equality...namely, a county clerk in Boulder, CO who issued marriage licenses to same-sex couples way back in 1975.

Being the first, Tony & Richard's story is well documented. We see them grow from carefree, hippy kids to a cemented, caring, binational couple...denied - for 40 years - recognition, legal status and security by successive governments and presidents...Clinton, shame on you, DOMA...!

It's a not-so-simple story simply told...the chronology speaks volumes, the reality of the passing years will break hearts.

Thank you, Obama...now, do the right thing for Tony.

The(ir) Blurb...

LIMITED PARTNERSHIP is the love story between Filipino-American Richard Adams and Australian Tony Sullivan, who, in 1975, became one of the first same-sex couples in the world to be legally married. After applying for a green card for Tony based on their marriage, the couple received a denial letter from the Immigration and Naturalization Service stating, 'You have failed to establish that a bona fide marital relationship can exist between two faggots.' Outraged at this letter, and to prevent Tony's impending deportation, the couple sued the U.S. government, filing the first federal lawsuit seeking equal treatment for a same-sex marriage in U.S. history. This tenacious story of love, marriage and immigration equality is as precedent setting as it is little known... until now.
