CGiii Comment
The Coppola clan...that swamp of unbridled nepotism.
Bling is a lazy, clumsy and superficial film...a masterclass in product placement (Coppola has her own handbag line with a very notable designer).
Aaah the irony - the little rich girl with her famous father - makes a movie, commenting on the epidemic of poorer wannabees wanting to be bigger than they are...well, the wannabees succeeded - the little rich girl made a movie about them! And now they have celebrity status and a cash injection...movie rights don't come cheap.
Research seems to have been conducted solely online...via google and Youtube - those purveyors of depth and detail. Seemingly, Coppola made the young actors 'commit' a faux burglary...why? All they ever do - in the film - is walk through unlocked doors...burglary has never been seen to be so easy.
The gay element comes in the form of Marc - the only boy in the group - early on he declares a boy to be 'hot' and is then seen wearing a pair of pink Pradas...that's it for the gay thing, no conflict, no turmoil...I'll just pop on these Pradas and be comfortably gay!!!
A mindless film made mindlessly.
