CGiii Comment

Strangely miscast - a plodding, implausible story with wooden performances.

Not the Merchant/Ivory of yesteryear.

Hopkins plays an old, gay, failed writer with as much relish as a stripped down sandwich.

Gainsbourg is a plank of wood.

The mystery is...why this was even considered to be made - the book was as dull as a nun's habit and the film offers no improvement.
