CGiii Comment
A comedy!?! Pray tell...the planet on which the inhabitants would find this funny? Because...it most certainly is not planet Earth.
Rhys Ernst - a trans filmmaker - got a shedload of flack from - quite ironically - [some of] the trans community...who [singularly or collectively] called for the boycott of Adam - there's just no pleasing some of the people all of the time! And...who are these people who [silently] yell: BOYCOTT? For goodness sake...it's only a film! Those guilty of such lame proclamations should dig deep and ponder over their censorious souls!
There's no getting away from it...but, Adam is an abhorrent little shit. He [a heterosexual, physiological boy] pretends to be a trans*man in order to get into the tighty-whities of the apple of his eye...why [pretend] you may ask...because, the apple is a lesbian! Funny? No.
And, yes...there is a bit of shooting yourself in the foot...when you consider the vast array of narratives [aka...arguments/debates] concerning 'trans' issues - bathrooms, locker rooms, safe spaces...the list is as endless as it is volatile.
Politics aside...is Adam a good film? Put it this way, it could have been a better film...had it had a bigger budget. Despite some shaky performances from some of the cast members, Adam is - by far - the least interesting character...and, being the little shit that he is, the question has to be asked: Do you want to spend 95 minutes watching a wee shit being a total shit?
