CGiii Comment

A film about identity that has none of its own! How strange!

A heavyweight writer delivers a lightweight [and ridiculously predictable] script...not exactly what was expected from John Logan's debut feature...as a director.

Apart from one massive twist that could have been milked for all its worth...alas, not the case...They/Them trundles along trying to find out where it's actually going. For a slasher movie, there's not much slashing nor horror nor screaming nor blood. But...there is defiance which culminates in a kind of High School Musical sing-along to P!nk's Fuckin' Perfect - odd, considering the video for that song is particularly horrific and very heterosexual...neither of which They/Them are!

In truth, the film didn't need the slasher element whatsoever...the aversion room is horror enough...but, it only features briefly. If only it had been a room in Hostel!

The obvious problem this film had from the beginning was with its target audience...it pandered to the film certification board ensuring the young LGBT snowflakes could watch it. And, let's be truthful here...film certification is total nonsense, since access to online films is almost uninhibited.

If only this had been an 18...!
