CGiii Comment

James Patterson must be reeling!

It has already been - inexplicably - re-newed for a second series...here are a few words of advice...before the cameras start to roll...and, for any [real] hope of a season 3...

Sack the current pool of writers, refer back to the source material, sack the wardrobe department, refer back to the source material, kill the Nancy Drew/Scooby Doo nonsense, kill the camp, refer back to the source material...and, get a new pool of writers...and, less [tooth-cutting] directors.

Just like in Scooby Doo, every crime - regardless of its complexity - is solved within 40 or so minutes...mainly due to some divine revelation by Alan Cumming's bespokely-tailored Prof...who needs a detective when you have Doctor Dylan Reinhart popping up here, there and everywhere!?!

Perhaps too much damage has been done...Instinct needs to be re-packaged and re-imagined. It needs to be serious, not facetious...it needs a strong, complex story from start to finish - with a strong director to see it through...rather than the current format of join-the-dots and reveal the killer!

Seriously, why even credit James Patterson...this is a mad and bad imagining of what he wrote! Improvements will have to be made for season 2...but, one thing is assured, it can't get any worse than season 1...to be renewed or not to be...aye, that is a question indeed!?!

The(ir) Blurb...

Former CIA operative is lured back to his old life when the NYPD needs his help to stop a serial killer. Dr. Dylan Reinhart (Alan Cumming) is a gifted author and university professor living a quiet life teaching psychopathic behavior to packed classes of adoring students. But when top NYPD detective Lizzie Needham (Bojana Novakovic) appeals to him to help her catch a serial murderer who is using Dylan's first book as a tutorial, Dylan is compelled by the case, comes out of retirement and taps into his old skill set. Though Dylan and Lizzie initially clash, when it comes to catching killers, they realize they will make an ideal team if they both trust their instincts. Based on the James Patterson book.
