Leo's Room

Country: Uruguay | Argentina, Language: Spanish, 95 mins

Original Title

El Cuarto de Leo
  • Director: Enrique Buchichio
  • Writer: Enrique Buchichio
  • Producer: Natacha López

CGiii Comment

A rarity - no nudity, no camp nonsense - just a heartfelt story.

Rodriguez is the epitome of charisma - deftly and sensitively played.

Buchichio has delivered a film with extreme maturity - it may be dark...but, it is truthful.

The ending is a little rushed and presumes, perhaps, a little too much from the audience.

A definitive resolution would have raised this film so high above its contemporaries - making it a modern classic.

But...for a country not known for its CGiii - this is a classic.

The(ir) Blurb...

Leo, a young man coming to terms with his own sexuality, runs into Caro, a primary school friend he fancied when they were kids, who's now trying to ward off her own personal demons. This casual re-encounter will affect their personal conflicts without either truly grasping the other's problem.
