CGiii Comment
It's like taking a step back in time...when all gay men were tortured souls and those that live in the country amount to nothing more than backward bumpkins.
This may be the case in the Czech Republic, it certainly does not translate well within the modern Western ideology.
The teacher himself is the most miserable looking human being on the face of the planet - which is not surprising considering the antics of his vile ex - but, he is so utterly pathetic that his moment of predatory madness causes the story to collapse.
There is no doubting the beauty that Skama has created, the camera work and photography are excellent.
The story is just a little too contrived and backward to digest comfortably.
But...worth watching.

The(ir) Blurb...
Petr, youthful, quiet, and sensitive, comes from Prague to teach natural science in a country town. The gruff principal asks what he's running from and predicts he'll be gone in six months. Marie, a widow with a teen son, Lada, befriends Petr. She's lonely. Petr does some chores at her farm and watches Lada with his weekend girlfriend, Bara. We meet Petr's parents and understand some of why he left Prague, then Petr's friend Mihi pays a visit and we understand more. Mihi throws a wrench in things, and Lada comes to Petr for help. Has Petr found his place in the world, but what about his nature?
