To fully appreciate Stelios Kammitsis' [mighty fine] debut feature...you need to have gone travelling on your own!
You meet people...both wondrous and weird and then, in the blink of an eye, they're gone. Leaving lasting impressions, sometimes deep affections...whatever, they are memories to recall [later in life] of the days when you were young, free, lucky, luckless and stupid.
When opposites attract and that attraction is opposed, there is chemistry..and,The Man with the Answers is a laboratory jam-packed full of the stuff! This is alchemy with all sizzling expectations and simmering disappointments...this is gay-themed gold! A road movie...European style.
This is the joie-de-vivre meeting the angst...this is a head-on collision between confidence and the deflated...as they say, travel broadens the mind and an unexpected lover is not just the icing on the cake...but, the cherry on top too!
Vasilis Magouliotis and Anton Weil are prefect as the perfect misfits who fit...whether is was just a just fleeting instance, a fond memory or something else entirely...we may never know. But...that's travelling, the wondrous and the weird are close companions who disappear... the memories don't.
This film will linger...for a while...for all the rights reasons.
A stunning debut.
