Some have called it 'torture porn' and that is exactly what it is...torture.

It's gruesome...that's just the writing...transfiguration?!? Scraping the bottom of the barrel there.

Laugier has managed to make himself a laughingstock...replete with unfettered pretension.

Unlike other films in this genre - Hotel, Saw et al...there is no artistry, no intelligence - just a relentless barrage of violence held together [loosely] by a divine existentialism - yes, it really is that indulgent.

A bad film - in so, so many ways.

Fifteen years after a horrifying experience of abduction and prolonged torture, Lucie embarks on a bloody quest for revenge against her oppressors. Along with her childhood friend, Anna, who also suffered abuse, she quickly descends, without hope, into madness and her own delusions.
