CGiii Comment
Read the premise...and you might think: a drug-fuelled, lesbian hoedown at the Sapphic Corral...
Wrong!
It's a beautiful looking film...of horses, landscapes and sky.
But...it's a little sparse on the story front...
The only 'exciting' thing that happens is...a couple of horses escape...they are found within minutes, munching on the grass and one has sustained a tiny cut to the leg!!! Heart-stopping stuff!!!
We thought...the rich-girl's horse would end up in the quicksand and there would be an all-out class war [of blame and retribution] between the Sapphic sisters of disparate economies...but no, they put a plaster on Dobbin and all is well.
There is a contention in the film...older lesbian couple losing love versus younger lesbian couple finding love...but neither relationship is adequately explored...
The performances are all fine...it looks good...alas, as disappointing.
Equus flaccid.

Alex is a 16-year old misfit, a school drop out, who's been using drugs and cutting herself. Her adoptive mother has signed her up for an internship at a farm to work with horses, as a last chance to find balance in her life.
There Alex meets Nina, her teacher, a 30-something lesbian and horse lover who needs a break from her partner Christine and their city life. Although Alex initially hates being stuck in this remote farm, she gradually connects with the horses.
Then, an upper-class girl, Kathy, arrives at the farm for a vacation with her own beautiful horse. Alex dislikes privileged Kathy, but slowly the girls form a friendship. One weekend, they're alone at the farm and things get out of control...
