Breaking the Surface

Country: USA, Language: English, 95 mins

  • Director: Steven Hilliard Stern
  • Writer: Greg Louganis; Eric Marcus
  • Producer: Mark Bacino; Allen S. Epstein

CGiii Comment

The acting is utterly lousy.

The writing is less challenging than a 3-letter anagram.

This is a truly disturbing story...what makes it even more so is that it is almost trivialised with bad judgment, soppy music and misguided direction.

Louganis was a consultant on this film and he should be thoroughly embarrassed for subjecting people to this appalling attempt at sympathy...but then, those producers have the final say...!

Breaking the Surface is about the tough times Greg Louganis had on his way to becoming one of the world's top Olympic divers. Some topics discussed were Greg's childhood problems, his homosexuality, and him contracting the HIV virus.
