CGiii Comment

Way back East where most of the men are tutti-fruttis - that's good old dumb blonde cowboy philosophy.

Thank you Mr Schlesinger for this film.

Miraculous, heart-breaking, ground-breaking.

It won 3 Oscars: director, picture & writing (sometimes they do get it right).

Admittedly, some of the 60s trendy techniques are a little difficult to take now - don't let that detract from the overall power of this film.

Voight's lost-boy appeal is staggering....but, Hoffman steals the show with seedy precision.

The(ir) Blurb...

Texas greenhorn Joe Buck arrives in New York for the first time. Preening himself as a real 'hustler', he finds that he is the one getting 'hustled' until he teams up with a down-and-out but resilient outcast named Ratso Rizzo. The initial 'country cousin meets city cousin' relationship deepens. In their efforts to bilk a hostile world rebuffing them at every turn, this unlikely pair progress from partners in shady business to comrades. Each has found his first real friend.
