CGiii Comment
It really is difficult to take this seriously. Not only because of the monotony...but, these fledgling leathermen take themselves far too seriously! To the point that you are actually laughing at them rather than with them. Do we really want to see someone's boot collection? Obviously, according to the filmmaker...we do!
In all honesty, there's not enough material to justify the 90 minute runtime. A great big chunk of the film is taken up with a radio interview, some of the competitors discuss with cringing effect how important becoming Mr Leather would be to them...the radio host is more mocking than sincere. It's all rather agonising to watch.
For some...leather is a way of life. For others...leather is all about dressing up and pretending to be someone they are not. It's a highly sexualized world...unfortunately, that doesn't transmit here...the one [wholly unnecessary] sex scene is as monotonous and flaccid as the rest of the film.
If you are a Tom of Finland wannabe, this here film is for you. You are not alone!
