CGiii Comment

Episode 1 sets the scene perfectly...this is going to be a dark, bleak tale...of tough men on a whaling boat in the Arctic Circle...the anticipation for buggery hangs in the air. You won't need to wait to long!

There's also a backstory with an 'unsavoury' subtext, the not-so-squeaky clean, drug addled surgeon has a secret. These men, on this boat, live on the other side of the moral compass...as it would seem, without exception.

The first episode leaves you dangling.

The second episode takes you into an even darker territory...male rape!

It's not pleasant by any stretch of the imagination...Colin Farrell has beefed up to play the psychopath...but, being so obvious is obviously the point...

To be continued...but, darkly brilliant so far!

The(ir) Blurb...

The North Water tells the story of Patrick Sumner, a disgraced ex-army surgeon who signs up as ship's doctor on a whaling expedition to the Arctic. On board he meets Henry Drax, the harpooner, a brutish killer whose amorality has been shaped to fit the harshness of his world. Hoping to escape the horrors of his past, Sumner finds himself on an ill-fated journey with a murderous psychopath. In search of redemption, his story becomes a harsh struggle for survival in the Arctic wasteland.
