CGiii Comment

This must have caused quite a stir back in '76...lady-love by a woman of substance and standing...while her husband is risking his life (and love) in the Great War.

Shocking stuff, indeed...especially when she considers the choices that she may choose.

The limits of a small-scale television production keeps this rather constricted...but, there are threads that are worthy of further investigation: the over-bearing mother is not exactly is not exactly in-the-dark regarding the Sapphic ways...!

For its time: brave and, quite possibly, jaw-dropping for most.

The(ir) Blurb...

Originally broadcast by KCET (PBS) on their dramatic showcase series, "Visions," this sweet, quiet film is set during World War I. It is the story of Amy, a proper, but lonely housewife whose husband is away at war. She finds solace in a friendship with a more worldly female photographer, only to have her entire world turned upside down when the friendship becomes genuine love and she is forced to choose. Groundbreaking for its powerful yet non-prurient portrayal of lesbian first love.
