It had to happen...
We've had and will continue to have...film re-makes galore...
We've had and will continue to have...prequels, sequels. spin-offs and flops...galore...
We've had and will continue to have...the resurrections of defunct TV series' - galore...
We've had and will continue to have...live filmed Musicals...galore...
We've had and will continue to have...films made into TV series' - galore...
We've had and will continue to have...TV series' made into films...galore...
So...it had to happen...a film is being made into a web series...please, let this not be a trend that continues! Otherwise, we're going to be swamped with sub-standard, re-hashed, bull-fodder!
The web series...the phenomena that it has become...is - unfortunately - here to stay. With the [oh too] rare exceptions, these self-promoting show-reels for wannabes are thorns in our sides...they are [all] made with the hope of them going viral and propelling the production crew and actors (usually one and the same) into the stratosphere of fame and fortune! Even [some] film festivals have started to screen back-to-back episodes!
Boy Culture, a decent enough film, made way back in 2006...is now being primped and primed for resurrection...in the form of a [dreaded] web series, consisting of 6 x 15-minute stories...aaaargh! They might pull it off, it might be worth watching...it may be one of those rare exceptions, there is a recognisable [and proven] collective talent...
Our advice: Just make a feature film instead!
