16 years later, Eastenders announce that they too are introducing a trans character to their laugh-a-minute, uber-depressing, slash-your-wrists soap.

Executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins stated: “The power of EastEnders is to change the world – so you change it gently. I am intending to introduce a trans character."
