ALT* Festival de Cine Documental LGBT+

ALT* Documentary LGBT+ Film Festival is Latin America’s first documentary-only LGBT+ film festival. Over the past two editions, we’ve been thrilled to celebrate queer stories from across the region, to connect audiences with diverse experiences, and to see the festival grow as a vibrant space for dialogue, art, and community.

For our third edition, taking place from May 28th to 31st, 2026, we’re opening the festival even further. While ALT remains deeply connected to its Latin American roots, we now welcome documentaries from all around the world.* Our goal is to build an international platform for queer voices, connecting stories and perspectives that challenge the barriers of love, gender, migration, violence, discrimination, and public policy.

We’re looking for documentaries that offer a window into the intersectionality of queer life, exploring its connections to race, migration, colonial histories, culture, and any other angle of social construction where oppressive binaries are questioned.

More than screenings, ALT* offers experiences: exhibitions, drinks, parties, merch, and roundtable discussions that allow audiences and filmmakers to connect, reflect, and celebrate together.

ALT* Festival de Cine Documental LGBT+ es el primer festival en Latinoamérica centrado únicamente en documentales LGBT+. Durante las dos ediciones anteriores, nos ha emocionado celebrar historias queer de toda la región, conectar audiencias con experiencias diversas y ver cómo el festival se ha consolidado como un espacio vibrante de diálogo, arte y comunidad.

Para nuestra tercera edición, del 28 al 31 de mayo de 2026, ALT* se convierte en un festival internacional, abierto a documentales de todas las regiones del mundo. Seguimos celebrando nuestras raíces latinoamericanas, pero ahora el programa abraza historias y perspectivas queer de cada rincón del planeta, ampliando el diálogo más allá de las fronteras.

Buscamos documentales que sean una ventana a la interseccionalidad de la vida queer, explorando sus conexiones con la raza, la migración, la historia colonial, la cultura y cualquier otro ángulo de la construcción social donde se cuestione el binarismo opresivo.

Más que proyecciones, ALT* ofrece experiencias: exposiciones, cocteles, fiestas, merch y mesas de análisis que permiten a audiencias y cineastas conectarse, reflexionar y celebrar juntxs.
