Hamburg International Queer Film Festival

Die Lesbisch Schwulen Filmtage Hamburg | International Queer Film Festival sind Deutschlands ältestes, größtes und von Beginn an queeres Filmfestival.
Einmal jährlich im Oktober locken sie rund 15.500 Besucher_innen in die Hamburger Kinos und an die Orte der Rahmenevents. An sechs Tagen werden in über 65 Programmen 130 Kurz- und Langfilme in fünf Spielstätten gezeigt.
Gut 20 Menschen arbeiten - weitgehend ehrenamtlich - engagiert und kreativ an der Organisation und Gestaltung des Festivals. Der Wunsch, möglichst vielfältige und aktuelle internationale Filmproduktionen zu präsentieren, geht einher mit dem Anspruch der Festivalmacher_innen, ein Forum für gesellschaftlich engagierte, diskussionswürdige und anspruchsvolle Filmkultur zu bieten.

About 15,500 people visit every year Germany's largest and longest-running LGBTIQ film festival. The colourful and comprehensive selection of films includes everything from feature length feel-good movies and documentaries to politically courageous productions and rarely seen experimental projects – allowing everyone the chance to find something to get excited about.
The festival screens over 65 programmes and 130 films from around the world in five cinemas over six days.
Roughly 20 people – mostly on a non-salaried basis – work throughout the year to organize the festival. They are in turn supported by an army of wonderful volunteers. The team's aim is to remain independent and to offer a festival that is accessible to the widest audience possible.
