Queering the Box

Queering the Box

Address

  • New York
  • USA

June was first declared "Gay and Lesbian Pride Month" in 1999. In 2009, President Barack Obama declared June "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month". To honor pride month GLSEN Hudson Valley presents, Queering the Box. GLSEN Hudson Valley serves and supports a 7 county region just above New York City.

Queering the Box will shine a light on our intersecting identities and acknowledge that in their complexities there is strength and creativity. We are excited to center the voices and experiences of marginalized folks within the LGBTQ community by highlighting the intersection of queerness and other oppressed identities.

Three locations will screen three separate films. Each film will be proceeded by a short created by a local New York young person. At the conclusion of the film representatives from the feature and the short along with a member of the Hudson Valley community will take stage to answer questions from the viewers.

Join us in Hudson Valley NY for what is sure to be moving and unforgettable.
