CGiii Comment

Not exactly the pinnacle of political correctness...

Bakshi's claim to fame is the original animated The Lord of the Rings (1978) and what a pile of crap that was.

Coonskin is unashamedly in-your-face, it sets out and delivers some of the most offensive exploitation material ever shown on the big screen.

He presents us with exaggerated images of black people, Italians/mafioso, homosexuals, Jews, general New York-types in Manhattan of the 70s, his intention is not realism hence the animation - you will squirm, wince and cringe...but, it is superior in its inventiveness and is a whack in the face to every exploitative film ever made.

There is no subtle facade - raw and painful.
