CGiii Comment

The SCUM Manifesto is regarded as a radical feminist classic - the Society for Cutting-up Men, written by a loose cannon who, it seems, totally relied on men to get by.

You can just hear all those radical fems screaming in cathartic shock - this film should get them screaming even louder.

Lili Taylor plays Solanas with exceptional skill - a multi-faceted performance - she is delusional, paranoid, annoying, extreme and, strangely, likeable and, unintentionally, very funny.

A difficult combination done perfectly.

Dorf as Candy Darling - is a surprising delight (he really is an under-rated actor) - the epitome of a gently played tragedy.

But...full credit must go to Harron, she of the lamentable American Psycho fame, has produced, possibly, the best film about The [self-important] Factory - many have tried (including Warhol) and failed.

The(ir) Blurb...

Based on the true story of Valerie Solanas who was a 60s radical preaching hatred toward men in her "Scum" manifesto. She wrote a screenplay for a film that she wanted Andy Warhol to produce, but he continued to ignore her. So she shot him. This is Valerie's story.
