When writers have to rely on canned laughter to signpost the jokes...get better writers and kick the can...the blurb calls it a reimagining of classic TV, it's not.
It's just an old-fashioned sitcom with a camp kid ready to launch himself into the big gay world...sadly, we won't be around to witness it!
