CGiii Comment
Who in hell decided to let Attenborough direct this? A very bad choice/decision.
It's is a blatant and mutilated rip-off - watch All That Jazz to see how it should be done.
The stage show will always be superior but...to film this without energy, without inspiration is truly flummoxing - expectations were high and Attenborough failed to even register on the Richter scale.
Flat.
Unforgivable.
BUT - it is worth watching just for the music.

Throughout the day, more and more people are eliminated, and the competition gets harder. Eventually, approximately a dozen dancers must compete for a few spots, each hoping to impress the director with their dancing skill. But, is this really what the director is looking for?
