Hullabaloo - a documentary about a gay handball team. You don't see openly gay athletes in Norway. I think it's because of the changing room-culture and the fact that "homo" is still used as an insult in sports, says 25-year-old Henning Nygård. We join in on the pursuits of the gay handball team Raballder (Hullabaloo), following them for a year. This colorful team is full of humorous, vulnerable, witty, rough, strong and warm characters. They play in the 4th Division of the Norwegian team handball. The fascination with the team is based on the transformation of some stereotypical queers into aggressive sports jocks on the court. The athletes constantly challenge our expectations regarding gender and sexuality.

Some of the athletes have famous Scandinavian women handball players as their role models. Everyone has a different playing style, from the goal-hungry offensive players to the agile keepers to the strategically inclined coaches. We also meet family and friends, follow the boys at work, vacations and parties. And of course we follow the team at matches and tournaments, on their ups and downs during the course of the season. Raballder plays in the regular divisions, and their goal is to advance by one division every year.
