CGiii Comment

It was a long time coming...a film about lesbian youth of colour.

Heavy-handed, pious parenting, a marriage falling apart and a daughter getting to grips with her sexuality...it's all very intense.

The central performance by Adepero Oduye is remarkable - let down only by a weak supporting cast (namely the parents).

A deeply personal film - heartfelt and honest.

Rees has clear talent for film-making and writing - with a tripod, a script editor and more money this could have been the powerhouse, the benchmark for all films about lesbian youth of colour.

That said...it still is a very good start.
