CGiii Comment

Period drama done to perfection...with faults.

Series 1 had Thomas tinkling with things and men he shouldn't have been tinkling with...a perfect beginning to a series

Series 2 had Thomas acting shiftier than a sandbar in a tropical monsoon...but, in truth, too much of the poor-little-rich bitches and not enough servants' grit.

Series 3 promised a return of Thomas' tinkling ways...we held our breaths...and, after a few rather boring episodes...Thomas pounced...almost literally...on an unsuspecting footman.

Downton has its ups and downs - it is difficult to feel anything for this aloof aristocracy...

Their money worries are, quite frankly, tedious...Papa made a bad investment, he has lost everything, poor Papa, poor us...Papa is a f**king idiot who is unable to scratch his own ass without a helping hand - where's Thomas when you need him?!?

The(ir) Blurb...

Lord Grantham sees his family heritage, especially the grand country home Downton Abbey, as his mission in life. The death of his heir aboard the Titanic means distant cousin Matthew Crawley, a Manchester lawyer, suddenly is next in line and accepts moving onto the vast estate with his even more modernist, socially engaged mother, who clashes with his lordship's domineering, conservative mother, the dowager countess. Marrying off the daughters is another concern. Meanwhile, the butler presides over a staff which serves the family, but also lead most of their entire lives in the servants' quarters, intriguing amongst themselves.
