CGiii Comment

So...you really have to be a bit of a fashion junkie to fully appreciate what's going on...

The immense stresses and strains of haute couture.

Newly appointed creative director, Raf Simons - like a fish out of water - has to create his first collection - for Dior - in 8 weeks!!!

Not being au fait with the language, women's apparel or high-end fashion, he digs his heels in - is this going to be a case of the rats abandoning ship?!?!

The making of the film is what it's not...this is behind the scenes...there's little glamour, few A-list faces and no bitchiness. This is blood, sweat, toil and tears...this is about people dedicated to their profession, working together...and, producing a tangible vision.

There is a sense of serenity - amid the clamour - with words from Dior's memoirs...gently spoken.

Simons may come across a being a little petulant...but, he does have an enormous weight upon his shoulders...he allows the camera to film his more difficult moments...now, that's a man who takes himself seriously.

A beautifully composed, serious film about fashion.

The(ir) Blurb...

Dior and I brings the viewer inside the storied world of the Christian Dior fashion house with a privileged, behind-the-scenes look at the creation of Raf Simons' first haute couture collection as its new artistic director-a true labor of love created by a dedicated group of collaborators. Melding the everyday, pressure-filled components of fashion with mysterious echoes from the iconic brand's past, the film is also a colorful homage to the seamstresses who serve Simons' vision.
