Imaginary Heroes

Country: USA | Germany | Belgium, Language: English, 111 mins

  • Director: Dan Harris
  • Writer: Dan Harris
  • Producer: Rene Besson; Rudy Cohen

CGiii Comment

A beautifully composed story of a family in deep crisis.

Harris [X2 and Supermen Returns] was only 25 when he wrote this...a remarkable achievement...because, not only is it mature, it is responsible.

The imaginary heroes may be the parents coming to terms with tragedy and ongoing responsibility.

The son's suicide is a backdrop against which all is played - sombre with moments of realistic humour.

Hirsch certainly picks his parts carefully, preferring to play more left-of-centre.

Harris has talent - it will be interesting to see how he uses it in the future - is it all to be super heroes, imagined or otherwise?
