CGiii Comment

Yes...it looks utterly fantastic. The epitome of cinema.

But...once they open their mouths...it all goes pear-shaped.

For those who don't know...the dialogue is sung...badly.

Sometimes that singing coincides with the music...more often, the jazz score is at odds with the singers...who deliver some of the most unremarkable lines ever written.

Demy - a closeted bisexual - had a definite understanding of and appreciation for Hollywood camp...unfortunately, the writing does no justice to the candy-coloured visuals.

Much-loved by many...inexplicably.
